Luke 4:16-22 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up:
and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and
stood up for to read. 17 And
there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had
opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18 The
Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel
to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance
to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them
that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable
year of the Lord.
20 And he
closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the
eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21 And he
began to say unto them, This day is this
scripture fulfilled in your ears.
22 And
all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of
his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
A careful, honest study of the life and
ministry of Jesus Christ will cause the sincere seeker to marvel. Marveled,
Astonished = to wonder greatly, be amazed; be filled with admiring
surprise.

Many have pondered the question, “Who is Jesus?”
I want to share with you today "Who
Jesus Is To Me!"
1.
He Is THE LIFTED UP ONE! Isaiah 57:15 Thus saith the High and Lofty One that
inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the High and Holy place.
Isaiah 6:1-4 In the year that king Uzziah died I
saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train
filled the temple. 2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six
wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and
with twain he did fly. 3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy,
holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. 4
And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house
was filled with smoke.
2.
He Is THE LOWLY ONE! Matthew 11:28-29
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are
heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of Me;
for I Am meek and Lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
He is Humble, Kind,
Compassionate.
Philippians 2:5-8
Let this mind be in you, which was also
in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be
equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form
of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being in fashion as a
man, he humbled himself, and became obediant unto death, even the death of the
cross.
3.
He Is THE LEARNED ONE! Daniel 2:22
He revealeth the deep and secret things:
he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
Ezekiel 11:5
For I know the things that come into your
mind, every one of them.
Job 23:10
He knoweth the way that I take: When He
hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
Psalm 139:2-6 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
4. He Is THE LISTENING ONE! Psalm 116:1-2 I love the LORD, because he hath heard my
voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore
will I call upon him as long as I live.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble
themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
5. He Is THE LOVING ONE! John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love
one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Ephesians 2:4
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his
great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins,…
Geneva Bible Marginal Note:
It is the nature of God to love
men, of which we have a most manifest proof above all other, in that of his
only free and infinite good will towards us his enemies, he delivered to death,
not a common man, but his own Son, indeed his only begotten Son, to the end
that we being reconciled through his blood might be partakers in his
everlasting glory.
6.
He Is THE LIBERATING ONE! Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because
the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me
to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the
opening of the prison to them that are bound.
7.
He Is THE LIVING ONE! Revelation
1:18 I AM
He that liveth, and was dead; and behold, I AM alive for evermore, Amen; and
have the keys of hell and of death.
Hebrews 7:25
Wherefore he is able also to save them to
the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make
intercession for them.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57
O death, where is thy sting? O grave
where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the
law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ.
CONCLUSION: To be without Christ
is to be… Without Salvation. Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other:
for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be
saved.
Dr. S. M.
Lockridge was the Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, a prominent African
American congregation located in San Diego, California.
My King was born King. The Bible says,.. He’s the King of
righteousness. He’s the King of the ages. He’s the King of Heaven. He’s the
King of glory. He’s the King of kings and He is the Lord of lords. Now that’s
my King.
Do you know my King? David said the Heavens declare the glory of
God, and the firmament shows His handiwork. My King is the only one of whom
there are no means of measure that can define His limitless love. There is no
far seeing telescope can bring into visibility the coastline of the shore of
His supplies. No barriers can hinder Him from pouring out His blessing.
He’s enduringly strong. He’s entirely sincere. He’s eternally
steadfast. He’s immortally graceful. He’s imperially powerful. He’s impartially
merciful. That’s my King.
He’s God’s Son. He’s the sinner’s Saviour. He’s the centerpiece of
civilization. He stands alone in Himself. He’s honest. He’s unique. He’s
unparalleled. He’s unprecedented. He’s supreme. He’s pre-eminent. He’s the
grandest idea in literature. He’s the highest personality in philosophy. He’s
the supreme problem in higher criticism. He’s the foundational center of Christian
theology. That’s my King.
He’s the miracle of the ages. He’s the superlative of everything
good that you choose to call Him. He’s the only one able to supply all our
needs simultaneously. He supplies strength for the weak. He’s available for the
tempted and the tried. He sympathizes and He saves. He’s the Almighty God who
guides and keeps all his people. He heals the sick. He cleanses the lepers. He
forgives sinners. He delivers the captives. He defends the feeble. He blesses
the young. He serves the unfortunate. He regards the aged. He rewards the
diligent and He beautifies the meek. That’s my King.
Do you know Him? He’s the wellspring of wisdom. He’s the doorway
of deliverance. He’s the pathway of peace. He’s the roadway of righteousness.
He’s the highway of holiness. He’s the gateway of glory. He’s the master of the
mighty. He’s the captain of the conquerors. He’s the head of the heroes. He’s
the leader of the legislatures. He’s the overseer of the overcomers. He’s the
governor of governors. He’s the prince of princes. That’s my King.
His office is manifold. His promise is sure. His light is matchless.
His goodness is limitless. His mercy is everlasting. His love never changes.
His Word is enough. His grace is sufficient. His reign is righteous. His yoke
is easy and His burden is light. In actuality... He’s indescribable. He’s
incomprehensible, and He’s invincible.
The heavens of heavens cannot contain Him, let alone some man
explain Him. You can’t get Him out of your mind. You can’t get Him off of your
hands. You can’t outlive Him and you can’t live without Him. The Pharisees
couldn’t stand Him, but they found out they couldn’t stop Him. Pilate couldn’t
find any fault in Him. The witnesses couldn’t get their testimonies to agree against
Him. Herod couldn’t kill Him. Death couldn’t handle Him and the grave couldn’t
hold Him. That’s my King.
